This last weekend was very busy for the Pueblo West Cyclones. On Friday, (11/11) A dedicated group of cadets volunteered on their own time to come in and do a presentation of colors at the Bonaventure Living Center. Our very own battalion commander had some assistance from some residence in singing the national anthem during the presentation. Cadets that attended had the opportunity to visit and talk with veterans that reside there.
Additionally, The same group of cadets attended a colors posting at the El Pueblo Museum in downtown Pueblo and got to meet the District Attorney for Pueblo County.
This was a enormous weekend for the Cyclone Battalion as we got to show off the amazing skills of our battalion.
It's really hard to believe that the end of the semester is coming up so quickly and our battalion is going to be busier than ever! At the end of this week, On Friday (11/11) there will be two Color Guard events in support of the local community to honor our nation's veterans. The first Color Guard will take place at the Bonaventure Senior Living Center at 1100 and the second will be at the El Pueblo Museum at 1800. Saturday is the Veterans Day Parade in downtown Pueblo. This is a great event and gives you the opportunity to earn community service credit, earn a parade award, and meet some amazing people.
Next week we will host our 1st Annual Turkey Shoot in our new rifle range. This event is open to all JROTC cadets (excluding rifle team members) as well as all students and staff and will be held from Monday (11/14) to Thursday (11/17) during homeroom and all three lunches. Cost to participate is $1 and if you shoot the highest score, you will win a turkey for Thanksgiving while also supporting our Rifle Team.
Lastly, the Military Ball will be held next Friday (11/18). Anyone that has signed up and that is expecting to bring a date are welcome to do so. This is limited to someone in high school only. If you intend to bring a date from another school, you need a permission slip and have it turned in by Wednesday (11/16).
Please remember to stay safe about everything you do and have a fun, happy, safe holiday season!
